About

TLC Maryville is one of only three (3) nonresidential opioid treatment programs (OTPs) in the metro Knoxville area of Eastern Tennessee that is authorized to utilize ALL THREE of the FDA-approved medications in the treatment of opioid use disorder (methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone). Medications are dispensed onsite, eliminating the need for patients to travel to community pharmacies where they too often are burdened by prior authorization delays and encounter stigma. Along with the use of FDA-approved medications, TLC Maryville offers comprehensive care that includes regular physician/nurse practitioner follow-ups, full onsite laboratory capabilities, Hepatitis C and HIV testing, full annual physical exams with related bloodwork, individualized treatment planning, individual and group counseling (facilitated by LADAC and/or LMSW/LCSW professionals), recovery support, case management, and referrals to/coordination of care with mental health & other specialty areas of healthcare. A Board-Certified Women's Health Nurse Practitioner is available onsite for the special needs of women of childbearing potential, and two Board Certified physicians practice throughout the week at the program. TLC Maryville is not subject to the patient limits of the X waiver for buprenorphine, as comprehensive OTPs are not subject to the DATA 2000 law like office based opioid treatment (OBOT) practices are. Naloxone kits are available for all patients and the larger community and we offer harm reduction and risk reduction education when it comes to safer lifestyles, including things beyond drug use. TLC Maryville's mission is, "To facilitate holistic healing through comprehensive treatment," where we meet the needs of each patient and design individualized plans of care based on the patient's values and preferences.
