About
We are Evidence Based Addiction Medicine (EBAM), dba High Point Clinic, (HPC), a unique 501(C)3 not-for-profit Medication Assisted Treatment Clinic, also known as MAT. We are located in upper northeast Tennessee where the epidemic of opiate addiction has taken many lives and continues to threaten many more. High Point Clinic has been treating patients since January of 2013. We treat those who are afflicted with the disease of addiction, specifically opiate addiction. Our Medical Director, Dr. Vance C. Shaw, FASAM, has been practicing addiction medicine since 2008 and been Board Certified in Addiction Medicine since 2010. We utilize the prescription buprenorphine with Naloxone, also known as Suboxone, in addition to counseling. Physicians, Master's level therapists, and a case manager are directly involved in the care of each patient seen. At High Point Clinic, we are invested in education. Dr. Shaw is an Associate Clinical Professor of East Tennessee State University (ETSU) Quillen College of Medicine and we offer rotations for 3rd and 4th year medical students as well as residents. We also offer placements for counseling students who are interested in continuing their career helping those patients and their families who are afflicted with the disease of addiction. Our goal is continued education in our attempts to break the stigma that continues to be so negative and biased in our society with regards to addiction. We passionately put our patients first with the desire to continue putting steps forward to improve the care of those suffering from the disease of opiate addiction. We wish that this website will be a means for you to get to know us as we have always been and remain available to guide those hurting into recovery.
