About

We provide personalized, evidence-based treatments for eating disorders and co-occurring disorders at the Intensive Outpatient and Partial Hospitalization levels. Evidence-based treatment means that all of our providers specialize in treatments that science has supported as effective. We approach eating disorders from a lens of health at every size (HAES). In addition, we personalize all of our treatment plans, based on evidence, to make sure that the treatment best fits your unique needs.

Referral / Admission

  • Admission criteria
    • PHP: 13 years old and up Primary Diagnosis of an Eating disorder Greater than >80% Ideal Body Weight (IBW) for adults Greater than >70% for adolescents- If family support is available to assist with weight gain through family-based therapy Medically cleared by primary medical provider No active substance or alcohol misuse (i.e., not used on campus) Eating meal plan from Res or PHP (recommended 4-6 weeks of 12 hr PHP) Partial motivation to recover; cooperative though intrusive thoughts are >3 hr/day Partial motivation and willingness to gain weight if needed and outside structure in place to assist with weight gain Partial motivation and willingness to limit excessive exercise if needed and outside structure in place to assist Can significantly reduce purging in structured setting, but without constant supervision Purging no more than 5-6 times a week Adequate social and emotional support at home Low to no suicide risk Ability to travel to and from PHP Ability to eat and follow guidelines during meals and groups Ability to bring own food for breakfast/lunch/dinner and snacks No prior non-compliance with Louisville Center for Eating Disorders’ programs No current discharge of against medical advice (AMA) from another facility (within past 6 months) IOP Primary Diagnosis of an Eating disorder Greater than >80% Ideal Body Weight (IBW) for adults or greater than 17.6 BMI Greater than >70% for adolescents- If family support is available to assist with weight gain through family-based therapy 13 years old and up Medically cleared by primary medical provider No active substance or alcohol misuse (i.e., not used on campus) Fair motivation to recover Can significantly reduce purging in unstructured setting Purging no more than 5-6 times a week Motivation and willingness to gain weight if needed and outside structure in place to assist with weight gain Motivation and willingness to limit excessive exercise if needed and outside structure in place to assist Adequate social and emotional support at home Low to no suicide risk Ability to travel to and from IOP Ability to eat and follow guidelines during meals and groups Ability to bring own food for breakfast/lunch/dinner No prior non-compliance with Louisville Center for Eating Disorders’ IOP program No current discharge of against medical advice (AMA) from another facility (within past 6 months) IOP Telehealth Confidential place to complete IOP - away from family members or distractions. Ability to eat alone and complete full meal plan in a private setting during meals We would really like adolescents 15yrs old or older who are personally motivated and have strong family support. If the child is younger than 15 we will take as young as 13 with the understanding they can be compliant, appropriate for groups, have a private space for the therapy and has very strong family components / support to complete the treatment as needed.
