UK PATHways is an integrated obstetric care program that provides comprehensive perinatal services for individuals with substance use disorders. Services include medication for opioid use disorder (MOUD), peer support, smoking cessation, perinatal education, case management, contingency management, substance use treatment groups, and individual counseling. Obstetric care and MOUD, including buprenorphine treatment, are delivered through a phased, multidisciplinary model that incorporates addiction medicine, nurse navigation, peer support services, substance use treatment programming, contingency management, community health care navigation and individual therapy. Services can extend for one year postpartum. UK PATHways operates as an outpatient obstetric clinic, with inpatient initiation of buprenorphine or methadone available through UK HealthCare when clinically indicated. Patients may be admitted to the program at any point during pregnancy. Initial assessments are typically scheduled within one week of first contact to facilitate timely access to care.
