Fresh Start Frankfort (formerly FCWFS Recovery Housing Program)
The Franklin County Women and Family Shelter became a nonprofit organization in 2004 dedicated to providing a shelter, supportive services, and transitional housing in a sober living environment to homeless single women who were not in an active domestic violence situation as a cause of being unhoused. In 2015, our agency opened the first program serving homeless families with children (couples with children, single males caring for children and blended families with children) in Franklin County and surrounding communities. In July 2021, FCWFS opened a Recovery Housing Program serving this same population along with continuing to provide referral services to community members who are at risk of homelessness. In May 2023 we changed the name of our Recovery Housing Program to Fresh Start Frankfort. Our Fresh Start Frankfort Recovery Housing Program is set up as apartment style living with single adult female residents sharing a bedroom with one other female. We also offer a two bedroom duplex providing a recovery housing residence for families with children. We are in the process of applying for Level 3 NARR certification with the plan to become certified with KY Recovery Housing Network in 2023. If you wish to learn more about our recovery housing program please contact staff during office hours - Monday thru Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 502-352-2843 or email Noel McCutchen at noelmccutchen@fcwfs.org.
